The underlying mechanisms of action, involving an exosomal and soluble fraction of proteins and lipids, include growth factors, heat shock proteins, matrix proteins, immune modulators, COX-2 pathway inhibitors, and antioxidants.

Increasingly LLLT (low level light therapy) is being used by aesthetic practitioners to reduce patient downtime, and in the medical setting, to accelerate healing and post-procedure recovery. Research supports reductions in erythema and edema, as well as increases in patient comfort. Light therapy can be used clinically as a powerful stand-alone modality or as a treatment enhancing add-on to support microdermabrasion, microneedling, peels, and much more.
Learning Objectives:
Speaker: Raja Sivamani, MD MS AP
Description: Clinical studies have shown that microbial post-biotics in the gut are altered in different skin diseases and can have a measurable impact on skin outcomes. In particular, the production of short-chain fatty acids in the gut and modulation of those short-chain fatty acids in circulation can alter the presence of acne and inflammation in the skin. The first double-blinded, placebo-controlled trial utilizing a probiotic as monotherapy for treatment of facial and truncal noncystic acne will be discussed. Finally, we will explore how this clinical trial offers proof that modulations to the gut microbiota with a specific probiotic formulation can change post-biotic expression and ultimately have a measurable impact on the skin, specifically acne.
Speaker: Lashelle Ullie, LE CMA
Description: Challenges in detecting erythema and rash in patients living with cancer with darker skin are not well documented in the medical literature [1]. There is a lack of visual representation of various skin types in common teaching texts which can result in a delay in diagnosis or misdiagnosis in patients with darker skin. In fact, a recent study in 2018 demonstrated that only 4.5% of images in medical textbooks represented darker skin tones. Men of color are greatly affected by this lack of awareness and representation in the oncology community and how to find solutions to any of their skin care needs affected by cancer treatments.
Learning Objectives:
