This talk will introduce participants to the basic concepts of TCM in the context of nutrition. Understanding the nature of the foods can be helpful in understanding why some foods may aggravate skin conditions in certain patients. Nutritional principles, as an extension of herbal medicine, are based upon the foods' essential taste, temperature, and function. Chinese medicine also incorporates many functional foods and spices that can be added to the diet for overall health or specific skin conditions.
